William Frederick Chaplick

January 4, 1941 – September 10, 2026

William "Bill" Frederick Chaplick, age 85, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026, surrounded by his family, following a period of declining health.

Bill is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Kim Chaplick-Charron (Stephane) and Maria Taschereau (Mathieu); his grandchildren, Riley Prince (Simona) and Noah Abdool; and his great-grandson, Elio.

He is also remembered by his wife, Vivian, with whom he maintained a close and enduring bond, and by his partner, Brenda Clarke.

Bill had a competitive spirit and a lifelong love of sports. An avid golfer, some of his greatest accomplishments—and certainly some of his proudest—came at The National Golf Club of Canada, where he was a member for 45 years. Over those years, Bill enjoyed numerous tournament and championship victories, including Club Champion in 1992 and 1993, Handicap Club Champion in 1992, Senior Club Champion in 2001, and Super Senior Club Champion in 2010.

Before joining The National, Bill was already an accomplished club golfer, winning five Club Championships at Glen Shields Golf Club between 1966 and 1977, as well as two Club Championships at Richmond Hill Golf Club between 1978 and 1980.

His competitive talents extended beyond the golf course. Bill was also a championship bowler; one of his most memorable victories was in 1985 at the inaugural Earl Anthony Invitational Bowling Tournament, held at Playtime Bowl in Toronto.

Away from sports, Bill lived a remarkably active life. He had a strong work ethic and continued working in the manufacturing industry until the age of 80. He also had a tremendous passion for music, attending an estimated 500-plus concerts throughout his lifetime. Music was something Bill didn't just listen to—he enjoyed it fully, and even well into his later years, he could often be found on the dance floor at a local bar on the weekend.

For all of his accomplishments, competitions, concerts and experiences, Bill’s greatest joy was his family. He took tremendous pride in the lives of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and treasured the time he spent with them. Beneath his competitive nature was a man who cared deeply for the people in his life. His family will remember not only what he accomplished, but the stories, laughter, celebrations and countless memories they shared with him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the party room at 303 Mill Road, Etobicoke. Family and friends are invited to come together, share memories and celebrate Bill’s life. Parking is available in the building next door at 820 Burnhamthorpe Road, Etobicoke.
