Dr. William T. Carruthers (Bill) passed away at Trillium Hospital on June 30, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen, his daughter, Kimberley (Alex), siblings Margaret (Mike) & Bob (Rosemary), and the many nieces, nephews, & friends whose lives he touched.

Bill was inspiring in his quiet confidence to march to the beat of his own drum and for always being proudly & authentically himself. He will be fondly remembered for his belief in the importance of regularly reinventing oneself professionally, his great conversation, his love of learning & writing, his mastery of the 'dad joke', and above all else for his kind, gentle nature and his love for those who were lucky enough to be a part of his life (and for chocolate, of course).

Rest well, Bill, you will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

A Celebration of Life event, with a light buffet, will be held at Markland Wood Golf Club on August 30 from 12-4PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of WIlliam Carruthers to the Canadian Lung Association (lung.ca/donate), Trillium Hospital (trilliumgiving.ca/inmemory), or to the University Health Network (UHNfoundation.ca/tribute).
