Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of William (Bill) C. Shaw at his home on September 23, 2026, at the age of 80.

Bill was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, cherished brother, and a loyal friend to many. He shared 50 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Marlene, who was by his side throughout their life together.

Born on May 8, 1946, Bill was the son of the late Allis and Constance Shaw. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Marlene; his sons, Troy (Ashley) and Trevor (Lesley); and his four grandchildren, Hayden, Hailey, Harrison, and Ruby, who brought him tremendous joy and pride. He also leaves behind his sisters, Mary and Beatrice, extended family, and many dear friends.

Bill lived a life defined by commitment, service, family, and friendship. He was proud of his 35 year career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the many years he dedicated to serving his country and community. His career took him to British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, and Ottawa, where he formed lifelong friendships and countless memories.

While Bill was proud of his service, his greatest source of happiness was his family. He treasured the time spent with Marlene, his sons, and especially his grandchildren. Those who knew Bill will remember his warmth, his stories, his sense of humour, and the genuine care he showed to the people around him.

Bill leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication to family, and wonderful memories that will remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be profoundly missed, but never forgotten.

A private Celebration of Life will be held by the family to honour and celebrate Bill’s incredible life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society
