Viola Byerley

BYERLEY, Viola 'Vi'  Maud (nee Samms) age 94, loving Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt & Grandmother passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with Cancer on March 10, 2023 at Bethell Hospice in Inglewood, ON.  Born in St. John's NFLD Vi was 1 of 13 children born to William & Annie Samms. Vi immigrated to Canada in 1946 and resided in Geraldton, ON where she met and married her husband George and had 4 children. A woman of courage and sheer determination, she would let nothing stand in her way or have you tell her how to do something.  Her passions included Baking, Curling, Bingo, Knitting and of course Carpentry. She and George built 4 homes in their lifetime, 1 in Geralton, ON and 3 in Kakabeka Falls, ON. Family was always a priority and she loved to travel, often driving many many miles to visit her children & grandchildren throughout the years.
Predeceased by her husband George (1998) and her youngest son Frank (2007), Vi is survived by her 3 children Donna (Bob) Coreau, Brenda (Edward) Groves and George (Annette) Byerley.  Beloved Nana to her 6 Grandchildren Carri-Lynn Coreau, Jason (Diana) Coreau, Launa Groves, Rebecca Barker, Megan (Phil) Clemo and Jonathan Byerley. Cherished Nana 'B' to her 7 Great-Grandchildren, Arielle (Sheldon) Talarico/Brown, Alexis Talarico, Aiyesha (Derek) Talarico/Pilling, Rachel & Layla Coreau, Dante & Ava Clemo. Dearest Nana 'B' to her 3 Great-Great-Grandsons Tristan, Tucker & Noah. Vi is also survived by her 2 loving Sisters Madge Cormier &  Alice Wortman along with many Nieces & Nephews.
A heartfelt Thank you to Nancy McGuire, neighbour & friend for all your kindness, devotion and special friendship to Vi these past few years.
The Family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Nurses, PSW's, Staff & Volunteers at Bethell Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion given during her stay. Our sincerest appreciation to Dr. Yehil Meghory & Dr. Michael Gagnon for all of their medical care & support over the years.
