It is with great sadness the family of Victor DORION announce Victor decided it was time to say goodbye and passed away with dignity, exactly as he wished at Royal Victoria Hospital Barrie on October 13, 2026. Victor was predeceased by his parents and their partners Aurel (Carol Davies) and Irene Dorion (Jack Attwood). He is survived by his siblings Michael, Bernadette Lougheed (Doug), Christopher, and Juliette Hiemstra (late Peter), nieces, nephews and many other relatives and valued friends. Victor was predeceased by his brother Kevin (Rayanne) in 2016. Victor was especially concerned about his canine pal “Ike”, who has now been adopted to a good home thanks to friend Jeff.
Victor was a lover of music with a collection of thousands of vinyl records (Peter Gabriel and Genesis he especially liked). In 1976 Victor represented Innisfil at Oklahoma’s USA Bi-Centennial celebration featuring the annual 4 world Stroud’s (Ontario, Gloucestershire UK, Oklahoma USA, NSW Australia) brick throwing competition.
Victor lived his life the way he wanted, on his terms with no regrets. He was there when family, friends and sometime strangers needed help, no questions asked! Victor said in his last few days that he had lived a good life, had a good family and many close friends including the Tuesday ping pong group of 41 years. Many thanks to Jake for supporting Victor and looking after his stuff as well as Greg & Linda, John and Laurie for being there for him during his final journey.
Many thanks to Dr. “Y”, the nurses and staff at RVH Respiratory Inpatient while Victor was in their care. A special thanks to Drs. Essington, Duvall, and Gaidhu along with coordinator Kristin for their compassion while guiding Victor on the passage he wished to have.
Interment at Grenfel Cemetery and a Celebration of Life to be held in the spring 2027. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Victor may be made to the Hudson Regional Cancer Centre at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre or Hospice Simcoe would be very much appreciated
