Victor Busuttil

It is with great sadness and much love, that we say goodbye to our beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Victor Busuttil, who passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, just weeks before his 88th birthday.

Victor was born in Sliema, Malta, in 1938. As a youth he was an avid soccer player, loved water polo player, competing in open sea pitches, and enjoyed all activities. He graduated from St. Albert College in Malta and, in 1960, immigrated to England for work, where he met his wife, Antonietta. In 1963 Victor moved to Canada to begin a new chapter. In late 1964 he was joined by his family, eventually settling in Bramalea, where he built a career of nearly 40 years with Northern Telecom (Nortel).

Victor enjoyed world travel, often visiting family abroad, for leisure and later for work. He found great satisfaction in working with his hands and taking photographs and was happiest when he had a project to keep him busy. An avid gardener, he meticulously cared for his vegetable garden and enjoyed grafting African violets to create new colours. He loved working on electronic equipment, refurbishing old furniture or building new things, patiently spending hours on projects that required a steady hand, minute details, and perseverance.

In his senior years, Victor made his home in the heart of downtown Toronto, where he became a familiar and friendly face in the St. Lawrence Market neighbourhood. Whether enjoying a walk, stopping at a local café, or simply sitting outside, he rarely passed by someone without sharing a smile or striking up a conversation. He had an easygoing nature and many who met him remembered him for his warmth, kindness, and willingness to chat. Though he lived a quiet life, he will be remembered by many as the friendly neighbour who always had time for a conversation and never hesitated to share a smile. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Antonietta (Gaggino) Busuttil, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage, family, and memories. Victor will be greatly missed by his daughters, Linda (Ralf) and Christine; his grandchildren, Sierra, Isaac, Ryan, Elena and Naomi; his sister, Bessie; his many nieces and nephews; and his extended family and friends. He will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of fixing and growing things, his friendly conversations, and the quiet way he brought a sense of familiarity.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Runnymede Long-Term Care for the compassionate care they showed Victor during the final months of his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Victor's memory may be made to the St. Michael's Hospital Foundation, in gratitude for the exceptional care and compassion he received from their dedicated staff over many years through his various health challenges.

A private celebration of Victor's life will be held at a later date.
