Vernie Gwyneth Persaud

PERSAUD, Vernie Gwyneth (nee: Annamunthodo) - Born on January 17, 1932 in Essequibo, British Guiana. Passed away peacefully at Credit Valley Hospital on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at the age of 93.

Beloved wife of Bidda Persaud for 71 years. Loving mother of Danny (Orie), Jagg, Raj (Rosie), Bimal, Vee, and her only daughter Jan (Michel). Cherished grandmother of Frederick, Dina, Daniel, Dominique, Rosanna, Josee, Joey, Nathan, Natalie, Natasha, Chikara, Nicholas, Rianna, Lilika, and Reyna. Great grandmother of Aaron, Mayla, Amira, Unity-Orion, Anakin, Eaven-Sage, Theodore, Christian, Dahlia, Moosa, and Maryam. Survived by her dear sister Joyce (Dr. Lincoln James). Pre-deceased by siblings Cecil, Sir Harry, Walter, Archie, Vernon, Gwen, Beryl, Percy, Rupert, Doris, Daisy, Dr. Norma and Shirley.

Vernie will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and friends with whom she kept in touch as often as she could and kept up the ties for most of her years.

Vernie was a loving soul who treasured her family and enjoyed good movies, music (especially André Rieu whose shows she just loved, and Jim Reeves) and dancing. She loved cooking, reading, and doing word puzzles in her later years. She also absolutely enjoyed traveling with Bidda and their winters spent abroad. Vernie will be deeply missed, especially by her lifelong partner and their children.

A private cremation has occurred/is being held on Friday August 1, 2025. Please send your loving thoughts and prayers.

A Memorial celebrating Vernie’s life will be announced at a future date and details will be communicated closer to that time.
