Van Y Duong

April 3, 1952 — January 8, 2024

Hamilton

Van Y Duong passed away peacefully on January 8, 2024, at his home in Hamilton of natural causes at the age of 71. Born on April 3, 1952, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. He is survived by his daughter Sarah Duong, brother Kenneric Duong, as well as other cherished family members and friends. Although Van has departed this world, he will forever be remembered as a loving father, caring brother, and good friend.

After completing his education at Lanith: Lao National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality, Van embarked on a fulfilling career before eventually retiring. One of Van's greatest passions was cinema. He had an innate appreciation for films that allowed him to dive into different worlds and explore various cultures. Additionally, he took pleasure in reading tarots and furthering his knowledge of the English language. Biking was another hobby that brought him tranquility and helped him stay physically active. He was a lover of animals too, especially dogs. Van was also a Buddhist and this played an integral role in shaping his compassionate nature.

In this time of mourning, our thoughts are also with those who preceded Van in death. We remember his family, and his beloved dogs Milo and Frodo fondly as we reflect on their lives alongside Van's.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 16th, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at
Forest Lawn Chapel & Crematorium located at 4570 Yonge Street, North York
Please note* If you are using a GPS to get to the chapel type in 10 Linelle Street to be guided directly to the entrance.

We encourage you to share memories, thoughts, and stories of Van on his webpage here.
May he rest in peace.
