With sadness, but also with deep gratitude for such a full life, so well lived, we announce the passing of Valerie Isabelle Wauchope on July 15 2026 at the age of 95.

Born in Alliston and raised in Schomberg Ontario, our Mom was the daughter of Frederick Elliston Hunter and Nora Greenway Armstrong. Her sister Evelyn Walton predeceased her by many years and was deeply missed yet remembered fondly and thought of often. Mom was first married for 55 years to and predeceased by our Dad John (Jack) Arthur Wauchope of Schomberg. With him, she raised her family. Years later, at 84 years young, she shared a loving marriage with Gerald Wallace Fever of Beeton Ontario.

Deeply faithful and connected to her God, in her final years she was a devoted member of St Judes Anglican church in Ivy. An accomplished musician, public school and piano teacher, she volunteered countless hours to her love of music. From the “Harmony Singers” to accompanying prayer services at Victoria Village, Music for Young Children and posting sing-a-longs on YouTube during Covid our Mom referred to her piano as the friend who was always there whenever she needed one.

She lived a very full life with a pocket calendar teeming with engagements. Always eager to learn and understand, in her retirement she travelled extensively. Stepping foot on all 7 continents, she found joy in making connections with their history, their communities and their people. At home, she was blessed to have friends who she cared for deeply and they too her. School friends, teaching friends, student friends, church friends, “the golfing girls” and countless more.

She was predeceased by her son Dr Fred Wauchope and will now be forever in the hearts of Cathie (Fred’s wife), Don (Elaine), Ted (Cathy), Jacquie (Jim), Elaine (Ken) and Kevin (Tracy). With 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren she will be remembered fondly for generations.

Never wanting a fuss or “performance”, we are respecting her wishes and having a family funeral on July 25th followed by internment at St Mary Magdalene Cemetery back home in Schomberg. If you knew her, she truly knew and cared about you. These wishes were never meant to be exclusionary but simply a final and very personal gift to her family.
