Toivo Alan Asikainen

May 21, 1955 – May 14 2026

After a recent diagnosis of ALS and a brief but courageous battle, we sadly announce the passing of Toivo Alan Asikainen — a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, karaoke legend, devoted bird lover, and enthusiastic (if self-described "average") golfer. Toivo was predeceased by his mother, Rosemary, and his younger brother, David. He is lovingly remembered by his siblings Sharon, Robert and Maria. He was a proud and supportive father to Laura (Helio) and Erik (Cassie), and a devoted grandfather to Katja, Dario, and Axel, who brought him immense joy. Toivo was also a cherished "Uncle Drunkle" to his nieces and nephews, a title he wore with humor and affection.

He found happiness in life's simple pleasures — spending time on the golf course with his son and friends, whether under sunny skies or less-than-ideal conditions. Many evenings were spent singing karaoke, where he built lasting friendships and entertained all who listened. He also cherished quiet moments sitting outside by the fire, and the peace of the outdoors. During fledgling season, Toivo could often be found watching over peregrine falcon chicks, making sure they stayed safe and helping them find their way if they fell. Generous with his time and always ready to lend a hand, Toivo made it known that he was there for anyone who needed him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
