Thomas Hixon Savage, CBE

November 21, 1928 - January 18, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great GGP, and great great GGPA, Thomas Hixon Savage on January 18, 2025.

Born in Belfast, Ireland November 21, 1928. Son of Thomas Hixon Savage and Martha Foy Turkington.

Tom had a vast and diverse career. Past Chairman Abbey Life Insurance Company, Canada. Formerly Chief Industrial Engineer, Union Carbide, Dunlop Canada, W.J. Gage & Company and Hallmark Greeting Cards. Past member: Business Council on National Issues; Chairman of the Advisory Board and Life Member of the Canadian Institute of Management, Chairman of the Board of Governors, Westpark Hospital. Former Chairman ITT Canada 1970-1993. Senior Officer Canada ITT Corp 1978-1993.

Tom was an active board member and Chairman of the Board for Samuel and Son, which spanned into many years of his retirement.

Named Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1990 for his commitment to the Northern Ireland Partnership in Canada and for being Director of the Canadian Ireland Fund and his role in supporting the Boys and Girls Club.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Grove Park Home, Barrie, where Tom has been lovingly cared for these past five years and donations to the home (made in his honour) would be appreciated.
