It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Blaine McDonald on July 27, 2026, at the age of 86.

Blaine was predeceased by his beloved wife, Josette, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and devotion.

He will be deeply missed by his children, Allison (Bruce) and Michael (Debbie). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Robert (Laura), Alexander (Kendra), and Matthew, and a cherished great-grandfather to Blaine, Declan, Winston, Callum, Lincoln, and Finlay, all of whom brought him immense joy.

After a distinguished career as a Director with the Canada Revenue Agency, Blaine embraced retirement with the same spirit of service that had guided his life. He generously volunteered with the Ottawa Mission and the Ottawa Senators, giving back to the community he loved. An avid golfer, he enjoyed countless hours on the course, where he valued both the game and the friendships it fostered.

Blaine will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, quiet strength, and wonderful sense of humour that could brighten any room. He was always ready with a joke, a smile, or a witty remark, and his warmth and laughter will be dearly missed. His legacy of integrity, service, compassion, and love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Westpointe Retirement Community for the compassionate care and kindness they provided during his final days.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, 3500 Fallowfield Road, Ottawa, Ontario, on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Blaine’s memory may be made to the Ottawa Mission, the Ottawa Food Bank, or a charity of your choice.
