Thomas Gerard Field

FIELD, THOMAS GERARD - Passed away at the Dorothy Ley Hospice in Etobicoke on Thursday January 25, 2018 at the age of 63. Tom was a chef and the proud father of Nicholas, Vanessa, and Spencer, who will miss him deeply. He is mourned by siblings Mary, Cathy Cohen (Howard) of Ottawa, Paul (Suzanne Szalma), Margaret, Chris, Tim (Jeanette) and Jon, and will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, and his former wife Christine and her family. Predeceased by his parents Josephine and James Field and brother Peter. Tom's passion was excellent food and he had a long career as a professional chef in the Toronto area, most recently as corporate chef at Alto-Shaam Canada and chef-consultant at Grappa Restaurant. His legacy lives on in the people he mentored and inspired to succeed in the restaurant business. The memory of Tom's warmth, generosity, honesty and dry sense of humour will be cherished by everyone who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a private celebration of Tom's life will be held at a later date. If desired, donations in his memory may be made to the Dorothy Ley Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society.
