DESTOUNIS Thomas, Gerassimos

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Destounis, a loving father, husband, brother, uncle, and friend who left us peacefully on January 24th, 2024, at the age of 89 after a lengthy struggle with dementia.

Thomas was one of seven children born to Evanthia and Pantelis in Havthata, Kefalonia, Greece on January 26, 1934.  He was predeceased by his brothers Dennis and Nick and his sister Anthi.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Martha and his children, Eva (Ryan) and Peter (Claudia).

Thomas immigrated to Canada in the 1950’s, where he joined his brothers, worked very hard and eventually started his own restaurant business which was the path he remained on until his retirement. A hard worker, he put the needs of his family first and was always willing to help others. He was known for his warm, kind, and patient personality, which are traits that were evident even in the last and most difficult years of his life.

We cannot express enough thanks for the exceptional care provided to Thomas from his PSW’s, nurses and support team.

Rest in peace, Thomas. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
