Tadas Klupsas

Tad (Tadas) Klupsas
Sept. 30, 1959 -
Feb. 1, 2023

Tad's parents, Tony (Antanas) Klupsas and Tina (Albertina Kavaliauskaite) Klupsas fled their Lithuanian homeland just before the Russian occupation. They met each other in Canada.  They settled in Toronto where they had three boys: Vik (Vikis) in 1953, Lou (Audrius) in 1954, and 5 years later they were blessed with Tad (Tadas Augenius). Tad's wonderful Godparents were Vita Matusaitis and Ludas Matukas.

Tad was born legally blind but throughout his life he never let this hold him back.  He was assigned to a handicapped class at Jesse Ketchum School, but with significant pressure from his mother, he was permitted to attend a regular public school. Tad graduated with a BA from Guelph University.

Tad was a member of a Blind Ski Club called the Night Hawks. With this club, Tad travelled to Switzerland to ski the Alps.  Tad loved to travel.  After graduation, Tad decided to circumnavigate our planet, which included visiting Tahiti and hitchhiking throughout New Zealand and Australia. Tad regularly travelled from Toronto to Vancouver Island to visit with Lou's family and friends.

For over thirty years, Tad successfully worked for the Government of Canada (Service Canada). Upon retirement, Tad had more time to enjoy what he loved: visits and phone calls with family and friends, photography, music, playing with his cats and talking parrot, and fiddling with his electronic toys (computer, TV, cell phone, etc.).  He also joined various social groups and that is where he met his love, Corrine.

Tad had many positive qualities.  He was intelligent, helpful, kind, generous, thoughtful and honest.  Unfortunately, Tad also had serious health concerns.  He died suddenly at the age of sixty-four with love in his heart and a TV remote in his hand.

We would like to thank all of Tad’s relatives, friends, and neighbours for the kindness, support and friendship that they extended to him.

We love our brother and will forever miss him dearly.

As per Tad’s wishes, there will be no formal ceremony. Please feel free to make a donation to “Balance for Blind Adults” by visiting    https://www.balancefba.org/donate/
