Susan Irene MacKinnon

Susan Irene MacKinnon, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, at St. Peter’s Hospital, at the age of 76. 

A resident of Heritage Green Seniors Residence, Susan faced multiple complications following a lengthy hospital stay, enduring her challenges with strength and grace.

Susan was a devoted mother to her son Steven, a proud and loving Nana to her granddaughter Erika, and a cherished sister to Pat.  She will also be deeply missed by her nephews Paul and Don, her nieces Tanya and Jessica, and many extended family members and friends.  She is predeceased by her father Malcolm, mother Joan, and her brother Ron, with whom she now reunites in peace.

Susan lived a full and meaningful life enriched by the things and people she loved.  She had a passion for crocheting and found joy in participating in the many activities offered at Heritage Green.  Her working years were spent surrounded by flowers and friendship.  Susan began her florist career at Howard’s Flower Shop and later retired from the Ancaster Fortinos Florist Department, where she made lasting connections with coworkers who meant so much to her over the years.

She cherished traveling with friends and treasured her visits to family in Missouri to see Paul, Melissa, Emily, and Anthony. Susan created memories that will continue to bring comfort to those who loved her.  Though Susan’s last few years were marked by health struggles, she met every challenge with determination, resilience, and an admirable ability to make the best of each day. Her strength was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Susan has been cremated, and in accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral service.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Susan’s friends for their kindness and support.  

A special thank you is offered to Brenda and Tracy for their unwavering care, compassion, and companionship throughout Susan’s final journey.

Susan was a loving Mother, Nana, Aunt, and friend, whose warmth and spirit touched many lives. 

She leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and cherished memories.  

She is now at peace.
