Stephen Wayne Paquette

Stephen Wayne Paquette, affectionately known as Steve, was born on June 6, 1966, in Ottawa, ON. He left this world on November 13, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

From an early age, Steve's passion for sports was evident. Growing up in Sandy Hill, he spent countless hours playing various sports with his family, friends and teammates. However, it was his exceptional pitching skills on the softball mound that made him a notable player in many local leagues. Steve's impact extended far beyond the field. As a person, he possessed a kind and welcoming nature that immediately put others at ease. His infectious sense of humor never failed to bring smiles to those around him. Steve had the ability to create joyous moments with his quick wit and genuine warmth. He could effortlessly bring laughter to any situation.

Steve's proudest accomplishments revolved around his family and he took immense joy in watching his daughter Candace Joannis (Shane) grow. He took pride in being Candace's father and played an active role in her life. Whether it was teaching her how to skate or throwing a ball together, Steve embraced every opportunity to spend time with Candace.  Providing unconditional support and encouragement as she pursued her passions brought Steve immeasurable happiness.

His devotion to his wife Pamela Hanes was unwavering throughout their years together. Their love and friendship was a testament to the strength and commitment they shared while looking after each other.  His dedication and care for Pam during her battle with cancer was truly admirable.

Predeceased by his Mother, Jeannette Paquette, Steve held a special place in his heart for his mother as well as his siblings James (Linda), Lawrence (Randa), Susan (Sandro), and Ronald. The bond they shared extended beyond blood; it was built upon love and shared experiences that formed the foundation of their tight-knit family. Steve will be dearly missed by his many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

In addition to family members, Steve had a wide circle of friends who will forever hold him dear in their hearts. His genuine kindness and caring nature made him a cherished friend to many.

Steve's legacy lives on through the memories he created, the love he shared, and the impact he had on the lives of all fortunate enough to have known him. He will be remembered for his humor, his love for sports, and most importantly, the way he made others feel.

A Celebration of Life in Steve's memory will be held on Saturday, December 9th from 1 to 5 pm at Local Heroes Bar and Grill on Clyde Avenue in Ottawa, ON.
