Stephen Allan Byron Janes

Passed away on September 13, 2018 at Montfort Hospital in Ottawa at the age of 54, after a lengthy and painful battle with rheumatoid arthritis. Predeceased by his mother Thirza Janes. Son of George Janes, father of Sadie Janes, brother of Julia Janes, brother-in-law of Robert Di Vincenzo, uncle of Tyler Janes-Di Vincenzo, and nephew of Julie Murchison.
Stephen was born in Toronto and lived in Sault Ste. Marie for many years, but he was always a nomad with a free spirit, living wherever he felt at peace. He had a creative soul and such a beautifully unique way of thinking. He shared this gift with many people that he encountered throughout his travels. Stephen worked as a chef and was also a talented musician. His daughter will always cherish the many "jam sessions" they had together. His sister will remember his quirky dance moves, love of outdoors and, when he was a wee boy, his love of "bologna two sandwiches.”
Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Vincent Place.
