It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Stephen James Currie on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at the age of 71.
Born in Mississauga, Ontario, Stephen later made Ottawa his home, where he built a life centered on family, friendship, and community. He will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.
Stephen is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Nancy (Henderson) Currie; his children, Lincoln Currie (Amber); Ashley Worden (Michael Buwalda); Andrew Worden (Melinda Blimke). Also survived by his cherished grandchildren; Adler, Payton, Piper, Abby, Landon, Quinn and K-9 Gemma, Kittens Lily, and Poppy.
He is also survived by his sisters, Susan Currie (Margaret) Donna Kennedy (Gus) and Jane Currie, his brother David Currie, and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Also survived by brother and sister in laws; Jack Henderson (Cecile), Peter Henderson (Georgina Flexman), Thomas Henderson (Terri), Patsy Henderson (Claude), Ginette Henderson (Don).
Stephen was predeceased by his parents, Rev. Roy Currie and Beryl Currie, whose love and guidance helped shape the man he became.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, and details will be shared with family and friends.
Memorial donations to Habitat for Humanity Greater Ottawa would be sincerely appreciated in Stephen's memory.
Stephen's love for his family, his generosity, and his gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
