Sheldon Carrasco, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, accompanied by the love and comfort of his wife, brother, and mother by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on June 9, 1975, to Walton and Edizia, Sheldon's infectious smile and laughter brought immense joy to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His warmth, generosity and ability to make others feel special were the hallmark of an extraordinary individual.

A graduate of Carleton University with a degree in business, Sheldon's charisma and talent shone brightly throughout his successful career with Diageo and Proximo, and more recently as a Desjardins Insurance agent.

In 2008, Sheldon married the love of his life, Joanna (née Dyment). Together, they shared a passion for travel and relished the diversity of people and cultures. They planted roots in Ottawa, welcoming two beautiful children, Caiden (13) and Adizia (8) into their lives.

A pillar of the community, Sheldon was always eager to lend a hand, coach sports teams, and promote the success of local businesses. His hobbies, too, reflected his love for camaraderie and adventure, from memorable fishing trips with friends to enjoying life's simple pleasures at home.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Joanna; their children, Caiden and Adizia; his mother, Edizia; his siblings, Stephanie Rodriguez (Luis and their children Avery and Alex), Steven (Liz and their children Maya and Noah), Sylvia De Souza (Malcolm and their children Kyle and Liya), Sylvano (Kerrianne and their children Owen and Carson), and his parents in-law Paul and Jeni Dyment, and brother and sisters in-law, Peter (Kirsten and their children Kaiya and Sachi), Libby (Geoff Holt), and Sarah Dorbyk (Michael and their daughter Namiri). Sheldon was preceded in death by his father, Walton Carrasco.

A memorial service and Celebration of Life are being arranged for June. It will be a time to commemorate his radiant spirit, enduring influence, and the lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Ruddy-Shenkman hospice (https://www.chpca.ca/listing/hospice-care-ottawa-ruddy-shenkman-hospice) which provided Sheldon with beautiful and compassionate care in his final days, along with all the medical care of many professionals who helped him and the family.

Sheldon's legacy of love, generosity, and vivid presence will be profoundly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
