Sharon Steele

After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Sharon Steele (nee McDermid) passed away on Sunday October 15th, at the age of 80.  

Born in Cornwall Ontario on January 25, 1943 to the late Alice and Charles McDermid, she was the eldest of 4 siblings, mother to 3 sons, and grandmother to 5 grandchildren.  Sharon worked hard and continuously cared for everyone around her, having been a nurse for much of her life.  She loved her time living on the waterfront in Constance Bay, and with her many friends and family.  She will be greatly missed by her sons Mark, David, and Eric, by her grandchildren Ashley, Ryan, Joshua, Sarah, and Teagan, by her siblings Wayne, Linda, and Bobby (pre-deceased), and by her many other relatives and friends.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Wildpine Residence, the palliative team at St. Vincent’s, and the cancer team at the Ottawa Hospital for their kindness and care.

A celebration of life will be held for Sharon on Friday, October 20^th, from 3 to 6 pm for family and friends to attend at ALE restaurant at the Amberwood Golf and Country Club, 54 Springbrook Drive, Stittsville, ON, K2S 1B9.

For family and friends located in Cornwall, there will be a graveside service on Saturday October 21^st at 1pm, at the Woodlawn Cemetery, 540 Cumberland Street, Cornwall, ON, K6J 4J5.

In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be much appreciated.
