Shannon Mitchell(Girard), died on May 25, 2025 at age 47 after a courageous battle. She was surrounded by her loving family at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie, Ontario.
Shannon was born on December 03, 1977 in Toronto to Mother Brenda(Peter) and Father (Ross predeceased)(Maggie). Shannon leaves behind her spouse Jeremy, Mother Brenda, father-in-law Neil, mother-in-law Janet, many aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Shannon had a soft spot for her furry family Stanley, Fenway, Beans and Harley who miss her dearly, often waiting by the front door for her return.
Shannon dedicated her working career to DeafBlind Ontario Services starting in 1999 as an Intervenor and holding many different positions over the next 26 years. She was a fierce advocate for those she supported, ensuring she was the voice for those who were unable to share their thoughts and feelings in traditional ways. Shannon truly loved her work, but mostly spending time with and advocating for the amazing people she had the privilege of working for.
Shannon had a lust for making memories through travel, visiting new places, seeing the world and trying new things. Some of her favorite places included Greece, Alaska, Ireland, Amsterdam, Scotland, China, Italy, New Zealand, Australia, Jamaica, St. Lucia and many more. When not travelling Shannon enjoyed music, arts, crafts and teaching herself new things, which resulted in many hand-crafted gifts received by family and friends.
