Ronald Charles Nunney
November 2, 1933 – December 21, 2023
Ronald “Ron” Nunney, of Wasaga Beach, Ontario, suddenly passed away at the age of 90 on Thursday December 21st, 2023, at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie Ontario. He was born in Greenford, England, to Sidney and Winnifred (Hillier) Nunney on November 2nd, 1933, where he grew up with his two brothers. Ron served in the British Air Force for 2 years before leaving Britain in 1954 to join his parents who emigrated to Canada the prior year to start a new life.
Ron worked several smaller jobs before landing a job at A.V. Roe Canada in Malton Ontario, where he worked in the photography department. He held that job until “Black Friday” February 20th, 1959, when the Canadian Government cancelled the AVRO Arrow program. Ron was happy to get another job at the DeHavilland Aircraft Canada working in the Photography Department. He eventually became the head of the department and retired after a 30-year career. He subsequently worked part time for the Commissionaires at Downsview Airforce Base as well as the RCAF Staff College for a few years before finally fully retiring.
Ron was a devoted Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather. He looked forward to visits from his grandkids and loved to go on trips with them to Florida, Mrytle Beach, and Niagara Falls in their younger years.
Ron was predeceased by his parents (Sid & Winn) and his older brother Sidney.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (nee Jeyes), his brother Robert (Bob), his children Ronald, Kevin (Cathy), Julie, his grandchildren Brandon Nunney, Stephanie (Jason) D’Ambrosio, Grant (Erin) Nunney, Justin Powell and his great grandchildren Julian and Natalie D’Ambrosio.
There will be a celebration of life, which will be held at later date.
