Ronald Douglas Bertram

Monday, January 29, 2024, Ron passed away peacefully at Hospice Simcoe, in his 89th year.

Loving father of Melissa (Stephen) and Bradley (Karen). Cherished grandfather of Stephan, Tyler and Nick, and great grandchildren Brooklyn and Adrian. Dear and older brother of Peter and Bill. Predeceased by his parents Vera and Les, and younger brother Jim.

Ron will be fondly remembered by his extended family and longtime friends, including his regular morning coffee gang at Linda’s Restaurant.

Leaving high school to join his father in the construction business, he was later joined by his three younger brothers in what became Les Bertram and Sons. All four brothers joined the Shriners in 1971, following in their father’s footsteps.

As an avid sun lover, he could often be found boating, spending many days out on Lake Simcoe, the Trent Canal system, and Georgian Bay.

He developed a passion for history and enjoyed reading about the great conflicts, especially surrounding the World War II era.

After retirement he enjoyed the opportunity to travel and often recounted his weeks exploring China and Australia with his lifelong friend Don Valley.

A Celebration of Life will be held with close family and old friends.
