Rod George Verge, born on October 1, 1943, in London, England passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025. He will be fondly remembered as a loving father, a dedicated brother, and a cherished partner.
Rod was the beloved son of a devoted family. He is survived by his only brother, Terry, who resides in Nova Scotia. Terry is the late Nancy's husband, and together they raised two wonderful daughters, Vicky and Susan. Rod took immense pride in his four children, each of whom brought their own light into his life. From his first marriage to Andrea, he welcomed Jason and Cynthia into the world. Jason, who shared many joyful moments with his father, married Lisa and became a grandfather to two beautiful girls, Abbigail and Mackenzie. Cynthia, alongside her partner Shawn, brought Rod a cherished granddaughter, Shelby.
In his second marriage to Louise, Rod was blessed with two more sons, Matthew and Alex. Alex too has continued the family legacy by having two children, Avery and Davina, who added even greater joy to Rod's life.
For the last thirty years, Rod lived with his life partner, Bernice. Together, they lived in Montreal and cherished their summers spent at their seaside cottage in Newfoundland, where Rod's love for the ocean was always evident. He treasured the long walks along the beach, in Nova Scotia, with his brother during their visits, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Queensway Carleton Hospital, especially the A3 unit, for providing Rod with comfort and care during his final week. They would also like to express their appreciation to all the staff at Wildpines in Stittsville, where Rod had resided since December 1, 2023, for their kindness and attention to his needs.
