Rochelle Mulholland (formerly Boland)

April 28, 1936 — September 2, 2025

Barrie

Rochelle Mulholland passed away at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on September 2, 2025, at the age of 89 years. Although peaceful at the very end, she fought fiercely up to that point, as was her nature.

Rochelle was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Fabiola Brown of Espanola, Ontario; her former husband, Tom Boland of Kirkland Lake; her husband, Geoff Mulholland; her sister, Jackie Grodesky; and her brother, Danny Brown.

She is survived by her siblings Paul Brown (Rolande), Kay Hore (Don), Anne Gibson, Lucille Noble and sister-in-law, Mary Brown.

She was an amazing mother to Cholly Boland (Debbie) and stepmother to David Mulholland (Janice) and Tracy Miller (née Mulholland). Proud grandmother to Callum, Charis, Kyle, Christopher, Emma, and Aidan, and aunt to nieces, nephews and Godchildren. She is also survived by her beloved four-legged companion, Jazz (pictured).

She is further survived by the many exchange students who lived with her, including her special ‘daughter,' Nataliya Sekleski (James), and their children Tristan and Mila, plus the thousands of other students she had an impact on over more than forty years of teaching in North Bay, Lethbridge, Kirkland Lake, Parry Sound, and Barrie.

Rochelle was known for her involvement in a myriad of interests, including (but just a partial list) leading choirs, directing and participating in many theatrical productions in several different communities (including Viet Nam and the Ukraine); leading the Joybells handbell choir for many decades, including a term as President of the Handbell Guild of Ontario; many creative endeavours, including painting, visual arts, knitting and crocheting; volunteering for many years at the Royal Victoria Hospital; volunteering for the Out of the Cold Foundation; tutoring many students of all ages; Scotch tasting and the many dinner parties she and Geoff hosted; shopping sprees and travels around the world; and her many decades of involvement with her church family at St. Thomas Anglican Church in Shanty Bay.

Thank you to the staff of Kemptville Retirement Living who all made her final home so very special.

A heartfelt thank you to the WDMH physicians and staff, who provided truly excellent, compassionate care during her many visits and several lengthy stays.

Family and friends will be received at St. Thomas Church, 28 Church Street (Oro Line 2 South), Shanty Bay on Saturday, September 20 from 9:30 to 11 AM, with a celebration of Rochelle’s life, followed by interment, to begin at 11 AM.

Donations in Rochelle’s memory may be made to the Winchester Hospital Foundation https://www.wdmhfoundation.ca/onlinegiving/tribute or St. Thomas Church stthomasshantybay.com/support-us. When making your donation, please indicate to “notify the family”.

Rochelle’s thoughtfulness, humor, and sense of style will be long remembered.
