It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Rob Vanderwel, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Born in 1957, Rob passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and quiet strength that will never be forgotten.
Rob was a devoted husband to Linda Myers Vanderwel, with whom he shared 27 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, resilience, and unconditional love.
Rob was a proud and loving father to Angela, Dan (Meghan), Tammy (Dominic), Jeromy (Erin), and Jeffrey. His children meant the world to him, and he supported them with a steady hand and an open heart. As “Grandpa,” Rob was cherished by his grandchildren—Junior, Amy, Mya, Hannah, Noa-Reeve, Dominic, Thomas, Beckham, Paul-Jaden, Robert-James, Evelyn, and Callan. Great grandfather to Sophia, Jesper, Ky and Emery—each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
He is predeceased by his parents, his beloved daughter Winnie, and grandson Jordan. Though their loss was deeply felt, Rob carried their memory with him always, holding them close in his heart.
Rob is survived by his loving siblings Joanne (Brent), Ted (Marianne), and Louise (Gary), who will remember him for his kindness, gentle humour, and steadfast loyalty to family.
A hard-working man, Rob spent over 25 years as a dedicated employee at Ford. Known for his reliability and work ethic, he earned the respect of everyone around him. Outside of work, Rob found peace in the great outdoors. Whether fishing, hunting, or simply soaking in the stillness of nature, he was most at home under an open sky.
Rob’s passing leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, but his spirit lives on in the lives he touched. His quiet presence, generous heart, and deep love for his family will never be forgotten.
A private family gathering will be held as per his wishes.
In honor of Rob’s memory, the family encourages you to spend time with your loved ones, preferably under the open sky, just as Rob would have wanted.
Forever loved. Forever missed.
