Robert Gilles Poirier, age 77, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, in Ottawa, Ontario.

Robert was the beloved husband of 48 years to Joanne (Boucher) Poirier. He was a devoted father to Philippe Poirier (Anik Letourneau), Roxanne Poirier (Geoff Kemp), and Robert Poirier (Emma Thomas), and a proud and loving grandfather to Félix, Mikaelle, Eva, and Ivy-Rose.

Robert was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Poirier and Lucille Poirier (née Laurin), and by his siblings Diane Poirier, Serge Poirier, Michel Poirier, and Rachelle Howard (née Poirier).

He was the owner and operator of Valley Auto Glass and Trim in Ottawa and was a well-known and respected glass mechanic throughout the Ottawa area during the 1980s and 1990s. He took great pride in his work and in the relationships, he built within the community.

A strong family man, Robert loved his family deeply and was fiercely proud of his grandchildren. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone in need. He enjoyed sharing stories of the old days and appreciated anyone who would take the time to listen. Robert wore his heart on his sleeve and treated everyone with warmth and respect.

In accordance with Robert’s wishes, no service will be held. He did not wish for others to grieve his passing. In his final moments, he was surrounded by the people who loved him most.
