Our beloved mother and grandmother, Robbin Shandler (Shirley Morosse), passed away quietly on March 10, 2026, at age 77 in Ottawa, Ontario, after a 15-month battle with lung and brain cancer. She was born in 1948, Edmonton, Alberta, where she lived most of her life, but also lived in Calgary, Vancouver, and her last few years were in Ottawa.

Robbin had an extensive career as a Realtor in Edmonton, winning many awards for her service and developing a reputation as an honest, caring, and sought-after agent. She also volunteered with local RCMP community services, Habitat for Humanity, with women who had been incarcerated, and other charities. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family and the many fun activities they did together including slow-pitch, horseback riding, and attending live theatre. She was an avid reader and had a love for animals, taking in several dogs from others as her own pets over the years. Although very humble about her artistic talents, she had a life-long passion and exceptional talent for producing various arts and creative crafts.

Robbin is survived by her children, Shawna Meister of Ottawa and Shane Meister of North Vancouver, and her granddaughters, Keara and Kate of North Vancouver. Robbin cherished her many friends and family throughout her life, some who have left us and others who will carry on her memory. Thank you to the many people who continued to support and provide warm thoughts for her during her remaining time – she was touched and appreciated it. Thank you also to the many staff of the different hospitals and care centres that took care of Robbin during her treatments and hospital stays these last months.

As Robbin’s home and most of her life was in Edmonton, she chose not to have a service in Ottawa and instead preferred cremation. She asked that people who knew her to celebrate her life in their own way that would be most meaningful to them in remembering her. In lieu of flowers or a service, she asked that donations be made to your local cancer research institute, the humane society, or the food bank. Her children invite friends and family to view photos of Robbin, and to share memories and celebrations of her life in this virtual memorial.
