It is with a broken heart that we announce the passing of Rita Tremblay (Corkery), on January 19th, 2026 at the age of 86 at Thorncliffe Place Retirement Home in Ottawa, Ontario. Born on January 13th 1940 Rita was the daughter of Edmund Peter and Mary Loretta Genevieve (Whelan) Corkery.

She is survived by her three children Denise (David), Michel and Gerald (Deborah), her two grandchildren Brianna and Daniel along with her loving sister Nora Costantini (the late Nick) and was pre deceased by her siblings Paul (Jean), Leonard (Lorna), Earl (Alice), Lawrence, Phyllis Hubert (Lou), Micheal (Joan), Irene Creppin (Kenneth), Joe, Kenny, Colleen (James) and Eddie

Rita touched the lives of everyone who had the honour of knowing her. Her thoughtfulness, warmth, witty sense of humour, kindness, and strong devotion to faith will be remembered forever. Rita loved to sing, dance, and joke with everyone. She was always concerned for the needs of others over her own and would offer anything she had to ensure the happiness of those around her.

Services to honour Rita’s life will be held on Saturday, January 31st at Saint Basil’s Church, 940 Rex Ave, Ottawa. The family will receive condolences from 10:30 – 11 am with a mass at 11 am, followed by a reception in the church hall. Burial will be in the spring at Notre-Dame Cemetery.

The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all the staff at Thorncliffe Place Retirement Home, who made Rita’s stay over the last 10 years a wonderful and comfortable life. The doctors, nurses, personal support workers, Carefor, volunteers, and support staff went over and above their duties to ensure Rita’s growing care needs were met. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada would be much appreciated by the family.

Rita was the best mom in the whole wide world. God bless everyone.
