Mississauga

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news of the unexpected passing of Richard Charles Smith of Mississauga, on November 6th, 2025.

Predeceased by his parents Ronald Smith and Mabel Donmoyer. Rick was a devoted and dearly loved father to his son Richard (Ricky) Smith, daughter-in-law, Stacey and cherished grandfather to Sarah, who will miss him greatly. Dear brother of Ben Smith of London, Chris Smith (Jane) of London and Pat Miller of Woodstock. Predeceased by brothers Ronald Jr. and Mike.

Rick will be lovingly remembered by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He will be greatly missed by his many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends and former co-workers. Rick is also lovingly remembered by his former wife, Aleta Smith, with whom he shared many wonderful moments and a continuing friendship.

Rick had a passion for fishing and a special fondness for bass fishing at St. Williams on Lake Erie, as well as in the Maitland River where he spent many happy hours. He also loved sports of many kinds and was a lifelong Cleveland fan. He was a dedicated coach for Eager Beaver for many years when his son was playing baseball. Rick loved to cook big meals for his family, and often with produce that he grew in his own garden. He was a kind and generous man always willing to lend a hand when needed.

Grateful thanks to the friends and family who continued to support him through calls and visits, and to the staff at Wenleigh for their care and attention to his needs.

Friends and family will be received at St. John’s Dixie, 737 Dundas St. E. Mississauga, Ontario L4Y 2B5 in The Magnolia Room Chapel Saturday, December 6, 2025 from 11-11.30 a.m. followed by a remembrance service at 11.30 a.m.
