Ralph Peckham, age 87, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, in Ottawa, Ontario, after a lengthy illness.
Ralph leaves behind his devoted wife of 64 years, Lois (née Snow); children Rose (Keith), Donna (Rick), and Randy (Denise); grandchildren Angela, Schona, Chelsea, Ally, Zac, Ryan, and Kayla, and six small great-grandchildren. He is also fondly remembered by his brothers Don (Elizabeth) and Fred (Sandy).
He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Dorothy Peckham; his sisters Vivian and Diane; and his brothers William, John, and Wayne.
Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Ralph spent most of his childhood there. After high school he met a pretty young woman named Lois and was smitten for a lifetime. He first began his career with the RCMP in Ottawa and then married his sweetheart. They began their marriage and family life in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, setting out on a lifetime of shared adventures.
As a dedicated RCMP member, Ralph and his family lived in many communities across Canada, also making their home in Stewiacke, Nova Scotia; Ottawa, Ontario; Grand Falls, Fogo, and Bay Roberts, Newfoundland; Yellowknife, Northwest Territories; Iqaluit, Nunavut; and Edmonton, Alberta. After 34 years of faithful service with the RCMP, Ralph continued his commitment to public service as CEO of the Hay River Hospital in the Northwest Territories. At the age of 55, he and Lois returned to the Ottawa area, where they enjoyed a well-earned retirement together.
Ralph was a man of deep and abiding faith, and he now rests in his heavenly home with his Lord and Saviour. With his love of music and natural talent, we can easily imagine him singing beloved country gospel hymns at the top of his lungs alongside the angelic choir—pausing only to share another joke or story, giving everyone around him one more reason to chuckle.
A private Memorial Service will be held - please feel free to contact a member of the family for further details.
