Pui King Fung

The family of Pui King Fung (née Chan), age 87, of Ottawa, with sorrow and joy, announces her promotion to glory on May 7, 2025. She passed peacefully at home in the care of family and is now reunited with her husband, Timothy.

She will be deeply missed by her dear children Amy (Kent Lum) and Andrew (Sharon Fung), beloved niece Michelle (Andrew McBride), and her cherished grandchildren Matthew, Madison, Béibhínn, Fearghus, Tadhg, and Emma. She is survived by her sisters in Calgary and Sydney, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and friends around the world.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, she began her career as a teacher, inspiring students of all ages and became a cherished mentor. Her deep interest in Chinese history and literature drew her to complete graduate school at the University of Minnesota before joining Timothy in Canada. In Ottawa, she began a second career as a Chinese translator for the government. An avid reader and intellect, Pui King was known for her quick wit and fondness of a healthy debate. Pui King touched many lives through her ministry at the Metropolitan Bible Church with a lasting impact felt by generations.

The family thanks the many personal support workers, friends, medical professionals, and the Metropolitan Bible Church for their compassionate care and support.

Visitation: Tuesday, May 20, 5:00-6:30 pm at the Metropolitan Bible Church.

Funeral service: Wednesday, May 21, 1:00 pm at the Metropolitan Bible Church with interment immediately following at Pinecrest Cemetery. Check back here for the service livestream.

Repast dinner: Friends and family are invited to join the repast on May 21 evening, time and location to be announced.
