It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Pierre Seguin who passed away in Ottawa, Ontario on Monday, June 22nd 2026.
He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Sage Seguin; his sister, Lynne; his best friend, Mark; and Angela, his former partner and business partner of more than twenty years. He will also be deeply missed by the many friends, colleagues, and community members whose lives he touched throughout the years.
Hospitality was more than a career for him—it was his life's passion. He dedicated many years to the hospitality industry, serving as Head of Food and Beverage Services at the Ottawa Congress Centre, now known as the Shaw Centre. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to help others succeed, he later founded Ottawa Hospitality Consulting, providing staffing solutions for events throughout Ottawa and offering guidance to restaurants seeking to strengthen their operations and achieve long-term success. His expertise, generosity, and commitment to excellence earned him the respect of countless colleagues and business owners across the city.
Outside of work, he embraced life with enthusiasm. For much of his life, he was passionate about fitness, golf, and staying active. Many cherished memories were made on the golf course, where he spent countless hours playing the game he loved. As a child, Sage fondly remembers accompanying him on golfing outings, riding in the cart while he played and sharing moments that would become lifelong memories. Whether playing a round himself or watching a tournament on television, golf remained one of his greatest joys.
He was also a devoted music lover. From morning until night, music filled his home and his heart. He especially loved blues music and was a dedicated fan of Frank Zappa and Aretha Franklin, whose songs formed the soundtrack of many days throughout his life.
Above all, he valued people. He had a remarkable ability to connect with others and believed deeply in the importance of genuine human connection. He often reminded those around him that in a world increasingly focused on screens and distractions, taking the time to engage with one another was one of life's greatest gifts. His warmth, kindness, and openness left lasting impressions on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Since his passing, the outpouring of messages and memories from friends, colleagues, and acquaintances has been a testament to the impact he had on so many lives. Stories have emerged from people Sage had never met, each sharing how he offered support, encouragement, guidance, or friendship when it was needed most. His generosity of spirit and desire to make a positive difference in the world touched countless people, and his loss will be deeply felt.
He shared especially close bonds with Angela, Mark, and Rubin, whose friendship and support meant so much to him throughout his life.
Though he was taken from us too soon, his legacy lives on through the many lives he touched, the friendships he nurtured, the businesses he helped build, and the memories he created with those who loved him. He will be remembered for his kindness, his passion, his wisdom, and his unwavering belief in the power of human connection.
He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
