Our beautiful Pierre passed away peacefully in the early afternoon of August 10th at the Maison de l'Est hospice. His loving partner Julie was at his side.
Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in June of 2024, he bravely fought it with courage and optimism. He was a true inspiration to all who knew him.
Pierre deeply loved and respected his parents who predeceased him - Henri Collins and Yvette Gemus. Two brothers went before him as well - Claude (Paulette) and Robert. He has two surviving siblings - Helene (Denis) and Richard (Judy) as well as several nieces and nephews : Paul, Gerry, Daniel ,Lyne, Chantale, Stephanie and Jonathan.
He is also survived by his loving soulmate, Julie Jenkins. Julie's son Graeme and his family will truly miss his love and support. Pierre was delighted to be called 'papa' by Graeme and Jacklyn's daughters Mila and Reya. "I never thought I would be a grandfather!" he would say and it was one of the great joys of his life.
Pierre took great pleasure in helping people. He was a shop steward for many years with CUPW. In retirement he volunteered at the Mission and delivered groceries for the food bank.
Pierre and Julie did many travels over their 24 years together. He was the best travel partner, full of wonder and enthusiasm.
I know Pierre would like to thank the many dedicated healthcare professionals who provided such wonderful care. He was truly appreciative of everyone.
A celebration of Pierre's life will be held in the fall.
Pierre, we will miss your beautiful smile and your amazing hugs. You have left a legacy of joyfulness, kindness and love.
