Peter “Butch” Quesnel

December 1, 1949 — December 3, 2024

Toronto

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Peter (Butch) Quesnel, who passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on December 3rd, 2024. Peter is predeceased by his father, James Quesnel, and his mother, Blanche Quesnel (nee Rose); his sisters Ida and Jeannine (Cliff); and his brothers Ronnie, Claude (Micheline), Lawrence (Jeannine), Aime (Jean), and Gerry (Anita). He is survived by his sister, Theresa (Sonny) and his brother, Wayne (Pia). He leaves behind his long-time companion, Guy Brodeur, and his beloved Goddaughter, Olivia Davies (Doug).

Butch grew up alongside his many nieces and nephews, but he had a special closeness with Jeannine and Cliff’s children Debbie (Eric), Chris (Norm), Cliff (Joanne), Steven, and his late nephew Terry, having grown up as a part of their household. He also has great memories with Bill and Connie. His nieces and nephews will greatly miss him and all of the memories that were created throughout their childhood and lifetime. He was a great uncle, a great-great uncle and a great-great-great uncle. Following that, he was a cousin to many, as well as a great friend.

He was the one who brought everyone together, connecting everyone, and making life long memories. Alongside his friends, he spent time travelling, and having wonderful parties. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his dear friends Ross, Doug, Peter, John, Truman, Karen, Rebecca, Suzanne, Leslie to name a few. Our hope is that he was greeted with open arms by his late friends that he had spent many years missing, namely Ian, Babe, John, Helene, Karyn, Bruno, Charles, and Kyle. If there is anything we know, it’s that he would have thrown a party right when he got there.

We invite you to add a memory or photo to keep his memory alive. There will be a celebration of life held both in Toronto and in Ottawa in the summer of 2025. Dates will be announced at a later date.
