Obituary

After a good well-lived life, it is with grace and comfort that we announce the peaceful passing of Peter Gambell. He was baptised on his 74th birthday and received the sacraments of the Catholic Church.

Peter enjoyed working on heavy equipment such as the grader and held various positions for the City of Brampton. He had many years of safe driving awards and loved his family and fellow workers. He took his work seriously and was proficient. He was a personable, simple and down-to-earth big man.

He valued his friendships he made throughout his life. He enjoyed company and visits in his garage where they would share stories and laughs and a few beers.

Passed away peacefully at the May Court Hospice on Wednesday August 12, 2026, Peter Gambell of Russell, in his 75th year. Loving husband of Cathy Gambell (nee Alexander). Loving father of Liane Texmo (Chris) of Brampton and James Gambell (Cherie) of Russell. Peter will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Aaron, Sierra (Christian), Noah (Suzy), Marissa (Jake) and Lily. He is survived by his sisters Gail Parliament (Gray) and Marilyn Murphy (Al). He was predeceased by his parents Jack Gambell and Vera Gambell (nee Stephens) and his sister Diane Bailey and Darlene Lee. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
