Obituary for Ret. Sgt. Mr. Peter Fisch

“I’ll be with you, even if you can’t see me. Let your heart guide you. It whispers, so listen closely.”

Retired Sergeant Mr. Peter Fisch, born December 31, 1947, in Oslo, Norway, went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2025, at the age of 77.

Born to his late parents, Andrew and Adrienne Fisch, Peter came to Canada at a young age and grew up in Montreal, Quebec, before eventually making his home in Ontario. When his father, Andrew, remarried, Peter joyfully embraced becoming a big brother to his beloved sister, Sylvia.

Peter proudly served his country as a member of the Canadian Forces, dedicating 25 years of service before his official retirement. His commitment to helping others continued in his work with the Toronto Transit Commission, where he drove for Wheel-Trans—an extension of his lifelong devotion to serving his community.

Peter lived life with energy, humour, and heart. He was an avid swimmer and diver, a passionate fan of the Toronto Raptors, Montreal Alouettes, and Toronto Blue Jays, and he cherished time spent up at the trailer. Above all, Peter treasured being with his family. He loved good laughs, a cold beer, BBQs, Monty Python, and movies of every kind. Even in the most difficult times, Peter focused on others and met every challenge without complaint, showing a strength and grace that will forever inspire those who knew him.

Faith was a steady and guiding part of Peter’s life. He drew comfort, gratitude, and purpose from his relationship with God, and he faced life’s challenges with quiet trust and unwavering hope. His kindness, service to others, and gentle spirit reflected the values he held deeply in his heart.

Peter is survived by his devoted wife, Robyn, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage and 55 years of love. He leaves behind his children, Nicole (Ryan), the late David, Danielle (Michael), and Matthew (Sarah); his cherished grandchildren, Jeremiah, Cayden, Ethan, Ryleigh, Rogan, and Isaiah; and his sister, Sylvia (Paul). He will also be missed by the “damn cats,” Toby and Melvin, as well as many extended family members and friends whose lives were brightened by his presence.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the numerous healthcare providers who supported Peter with dedication and compassion, and to the many family and friends whose love and presence meant so much throughout his journey.

Peter’s legacy of kindness, service, humour, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me.”

Psalm 28:7

May the Lord bless Peter and keep him. May his light shine upon him with grace and peace. May Peter’s memory be a comfort and his legacy a guiding light. And may God’s presence surround all who loved him, bringing strength for today and hope for tomorrow. Amen.
