Obituary

Peggy Ashley, 75 (Constance Mary Margaret Burt) passed away peacefully on September 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of family.

Born April 18, 1951, Peggy was a beloved wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, aunt, sister, daughter and a cherished presence in the lives of her family and friends. Peggy shared her life with her husband, Bryan, in the zoo they called home; they shared a lifelong deep love and connection with animals.

Her family was at the heart of her life, and the love she had for each of them was limitless; family gatherings, everyday moments, celebrations, laughter, and simply being together, she leaves behind a lifetime of memories that her family will hold close forever.

She is survived by her husband, Bryan; her children Andrea (Lance), Jay (Jen), and Megan (Brian); her grandchildren Kaylei, Shawn, Emily, and Jackson; her sister-in-law Lynn (Ken) Gorny, her brothers-in-law Stephen Ashley and Jim Fraser (Donna) as well as many loving relatives nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was predeceased by her sisters Donna Fraser and Valerie Boulden, her brother-in-law Art Boulden, her cherished fur baby Wicket and longtime feathered friend Winston.

She will be remembered for the time she gave so freely and for the countless memories she created. Her passing leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, but the love she shared will remain a part of her family always. She will live on in the stories they tell, the traditions they carry forward, and in the many ways she shaped their lives.

The family wishes to express special thanks to the nurses and staff, volunteers and support dogs on 6 West, Ottawa Hospital General Campus for their compassion and kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Peggy’s memory to the Parkinson’s Society of Ottawa or in support of her lifelong love of animals, to the Ottawa Humane Society.

Celebration of Life details will be provided at a later date.
