Pauwel Schreuder

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Pauwel Schreuder, who died after a brief illness at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie on Saturday, December 6th, 2025.

Pauwel was the cherished husband of Clara (Van Kalker) and the loving father of Joanne Listhaeghe (Greg). He was the proud Opa of Adam and Travis (Henacy), and Great Opa of Jayson. He will be dearly missed by all, including his extended family and friends. Pauwel was predeceased by his granddaughter Samantha, his parents Jan and Jantje Schreuder, and his siblings Gerrrit, Jo, and Dina.

Pauwel was born on August 25th, 1943, in Bedum in the Netherlands. He grew up helping his family in the gardens, which fostered his lifelong love of gardening. He came to Canada in 1972 to visit cousins and quickly fell in love with Clara and her daughter Joanne. He returned briefly to the Netherlands to pack his belongings, soon coming back to marry Clara and officially adopt Joanne. His career was dedicated to professional painting across the province of Ontario. In his spare time, he enjoyed growing vegetables and tulips. Pauwel was also known for cheering on his favorite soccer team.

Visitation will be held at Jennett’s Funeral Home, 152 Bradford St in Barrie on Tuesday, December 16th, at 1:00 PM, with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM. Refreshments will be served after the service. Interment will take place in the spring.
