It is with heavy hearts that the family of Pauline (McIntee) Yanchus
share of her passing on September 16, 2024 at the Royal Victoria
Regional Health Centre, where she had been hospitalized for several
weeks due to complications with her terminal illness. Her beloved son
Dylan, his wife Sondra, and their family faithfully cared for her as
she declined, and it was the honor of Dylan’s life to be at her side
as she passed. Up until the end, Pauline maintained her sense of
kindness, curiosity, humor, and deep love for her family, friends, and
country.
Pauline was born on April 26, 1960, in Edinburgh, Scotland. Though she
immigrated to Canada when she was a child, she maintained a lifelong
fierce pride for the land of her birth. She is predeceased by her
grandparents, James and Euphemia McIntee; parents, James and Ann
McIntee; first husband Louie Pellizzaris, with whom she gave birth to
daughter Elena (Kyle); and her adored husband Michael Yanchus, with
whom she gave birth to son Dylan (Sondra), daughter Phemie, and son
Beau. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, who were the
light of her life: Jumah, Oddie, Mason, Atticus, and Tobias.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Basic Funerals – Jennett
Memorial Centre (152 Bradford St., Barrie, ON) on Saturday, October
26, 2024 from 2 - 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to
the Regional Cancer Centre at the Royal Victoria Regional Health
Centre in her honour and loving memory.
The family would like to extend special gratitude to Pauline’s dear
friends Jocelyn and Susanne, who were by her side when she needed it
most. Pauline cherished her friendships, developing them at each stage
of her life, with most of these lasting multiple decades. She was
well-known for her friendliness, encouragement, and loving acceptance
of people of all ages and walks of life and truly was a friend to
many.
A special thank-you is also extended to Dr. Rask, Dr. Ali, and the
entire Oncology/Cancer & Palliative Departments at RVH for their
treatment, care, and support of Pauline over these past few years.
Pauline’s children wish to thank everyone who has reached out to
convey their sympathies, condolences, love, and support. We will miss
you terribly, Mom.
