Patrick Lowry passed away peacefully at St. Vincent's Hospital in Ottawa on Friday, August 30, after a long and courageous battle with glioblastoma. Born on October 11, 1953, to the late James and Dorothy Lowry, Patrick was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, and friend who touched the lives of many with his warmth, humor, and generosity.
Patrick was predeceased by his devoted wife, Eleanor, with whom he shared many happy years. He is survived by his cherished daughter, Christina (Phill), who was the light of his life and loving caregiver to the end. Patrick will also be dearly missed by his loving sisters, Marilyn (Murray) and Katherine (Bob), as well as his brothers, Thomas (Barb) and James (Kim).
For many years, Patrick managed the Independent Grocery in Perth, where he was remembered by his customers for his quick wit, infectious smile, and sense of humor. He brought joy to those around him and formed lasting connections with his community. In his youth, Patrick was an accomplished athlete enjoying a long and distinguished hockey career with his hometown Blue Wings. Throughout his life Pat was an avid long-distance runner and fitness enthusiast. In his retirement, Patrick found his greatest happiness on the golf course, on his 4-wheeler or on his snow machine, spending time with his close friends and savoring the simple pleasures of life.
Patrick's family would like to extend their gratitude to all of his caregivers, doctors and nurses over the past two years of his battle with cancer. Donations can be made to Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation. More specifically to the MRI campaign, bringing closer to home access for cancer patients.
A celebration of Patrick’s life will be held at Farrell Hall in Perth from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday, September 28. His family, friends, and all who knew him will forever carry the memory of his humor, kindness, and strength in their hearts. May we meet again.
