Patricia Lafleur

After years of courageously managing her pain, Patricia Marie Jeannine Lafleur (nee Charbonneau) passed away peacefully on April 8, 2024, surrounded by loved ones and with the excellent care of the medical team at The Ottawa Heart Institute.

A proud lower-towner, Patricia fostered many close relationships throughout her lifetime, and her love for all her family and friends was paramount. She cared for everyone who met her and had a loving affection for animals, especially her pets. Coco Chanel, being her latest furry friend, brought her and René immense joy.

She will be fondly remembered for her loving smile, incredible storytelling, and flair for all things stylish, including her clothes, jewellery, hats, and, most importantly, the things she cherished the most: her gardens and home.

She is pre-deceased by her loving parents, Jeannine (nee Simard) and Hector Charbonneau.  

She is survived by her devoted husband of 26 years, René Lafleur, her son, Michael Soulard, and her son-in-law, Pierre Simpson. A special mention goes to long-time friend Bernard Beaulieu, who was also at her side during her passing and was a great source of support for the family.

Patricia, we wish you a beautiful journey to be reunited with your family and friends, to be at peace, and to forever dance to the beat of your tambourine and sing your favourite songs as loud as you want. You will be in our hearts and memories and know you are loved.

Those wishing to commemorate Patricia’s life are encouraged to donate to the Ottawa Heart Institute, a local pet shelter/Humane Society or women’s shelter - or perform an act of kindness for someone (or as our beloved Patricia would do, send a special thank you note to someone who’s done something kind for you.)

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
