Nora Johnston

JOHNSTON, Nora (nee Rogers) April 2, 1932 - March 10, 2026

It is with great sadness that our family announces that Nora Johnston (nee Rogers) passed away at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre on March 10, 2026, at the age of 93. Beloved wife of Robert (“Bob”) of 72 years. Loving Mother of Rory (Lucinda) Johnston, Sean (Anita) Johnston and Dierdre (“Deedee”) Johnston. Cherished Grandmother of Pamela (Brad), Michael (Danielle), Lisa (Tony), Dana, Brian, Nicholas and Shannon. Dear Great-Grandmother of Karter, Jalen and Sean. Survived by sister Beatrice Gyle of Bangor, N. Ireland, brother Brendan of Belfast, N. Ireland, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in Death by her parents John (Jack) Rogers and Kathleen Costello of N. Ireland; two infant siblings, Rosaleen, John, Malachy and twins Kieran and Maeve (Passed in infanthood). Nora has left us with a lifetime of beautiful memories, she will never be forgotten and will live in the hearts of her loved ones forever. Nora was a proud member of the Sandy Cove Acres Covette’s choir, as well as a valued member in the IOOF community. As per Nora’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Nora’s burial will take place with a celebration of life to follow, sometime in the spring.

Nora was an Irish-Catholic woman with a vibrant, fiery and strong demeanor. She lived her life with an "early to bed early to rise" mentality and had no trouble expressing herself. Nora possessed a passion for "the wonderful world of entertainment", whether it be quoting classic Hollywood idols like Clark Gable, Mae West or Zsa Zsa Gabor - to name a few, or taking to the stage herself to sing or dance, or simply just turning music on to start her day. When it came to sports, in Nora's world there was only enough room for golf and curling with an occasional horse race in the mix. Socially she was an avid card player, mostly playing Euchre, Bid-euchre, Bridge, and Rummoli, or Poker when her Grandchildren would visit. Nora also loved to shop, especially when it came to her favourite 4-letter word...SALE!! No one loved the thrill of finding a good bargain more than Nora. Nora, alongside her husband Bob and family over the years had many travel adventures, whether it be via cruise, trailer or plane. Alongside Nora, life could really only be described as full!
