Nick came to Canada from Latvia in 1950.
He worked in a mine in Kitimat, then Lived in Montreal for a while. He spoke English, Latvian, German, and French. He moved to Toronto and met Lydia through his sister Anita. They married in 1953 and had 4 children – 3 boys and a girl.
After being in Canada for 5 years, we became Canadian citizens. We still think of Canada as the best country in the world.
He loved hockey (and actually coached hockey in Toronto, in which his sons played), stamp collecting, reading, dogs, fishing, going to the cottage.
