Nicholas Holden emerged victorious in his battle with ALS, surrendering his physical form with serenity and dignity, on his own terms.
There was no struggle, only peace. He was ready.
His bravery was a beacon of hope, shining brightly for an eternity. For far too long, he faced his challenges with unyielding courage and determination.
The love he held for his children and grandchildren knew no bounds, stretching to the moon and back. Nothing was too great to ask of him, no sacrifice too large. His family and friends were forever etched in his heart, loved with every fiber of his being.
His final words to me were a selfless plea: “I just don’t want you and the kids to be sad.”
But sadness has swept over me like powerful waves, it's unavoidable. Yet, we will find solace and strength.
Because of his love and preparation, we've been given a gift – the promise of better days. Even when his body was weakened, his spirit remained strong, ensuring our future was secure.
Connections were made, and love was shared.
We will be okay, we will heal, and we will rise again. Promise!
In lieu of a funeral, we will gather strength and memories on a future vacation, celebrating his life and legacy. His wish was for us to go scuba diving, to experience the freedom he never got to in the end– we will make it happen.
Nick was also a real Green Bay Packers fan through and through! One day we hope to get all the kids out to a game, so they can appreciate what brought him so much joy from Sept-Jan!
Go Pack Go!!
Thank you to all who have supported us through this journey, your love has been a balm to our souls.
I’ll share a final wish of Nicks – put this song on repeat, let its message be our collective prayer.
“Cause I had a hell of a time - Know that I had the time of my life - So remember me and smile!”
Until we meet again, my love, my guiding star, my soulmate – watch over all of our babies and guide them well. ♥️
