Obituary

Nancy Marie Bones, born April 27, 1943, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, joining her beloved husband, Gordon Bones, in heaven on his birthday.

Nancy was predeceased by Gordon, the love of her life, with whom she shared 50 wonderful years of marriage that was filled with devotion, laughter, and family. Together they built a beautiful life and raised six children along with one dearly loved adopted daughter. Nancy was truly a mother to many, always offering warmth, guidance, and compassion.

She will be remembered for her honest and direct nature, speaking her mind with clarity and conviction, always ensuring those around her knew where they stood. Beneath that straightforwardness was a deeply loyal and caring heart, and those who knew her best understood the love and strength behind her words.

Nancy had a deep passion for gardening. She found great joy and peace in caring for her flowers and plants, and her garden was a reflection of her nurturing spirit.

Nancy dedicated much of her life to helping others as a youth service worker. She also opened her home and heart to fostering children for many years, providing care, stability, and love to those who needed it most.

She leaves behind her six loving children and cherished adopted daughter: Barbara Wadsworth (Mike), Heather Gamblin, Kathy Gamblin, Gordon Bones (Tammy), Derek Bones (Mandy), Charlene Parker (George), and Shelley Moore.

She is also lovingly remembered by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren include Shawn Wadsworth, Jennifer Collon (Dan), Melissa Gamblin, David Benniworth (Shauna), Nathan Priest, Justin Bones (Shannon), Kerri Brown (Derek), Trevor Priest, Drew Bishop (Corissa) Taylor Chapman, Jordyn McDonald (Bryce), Blair Nicholson, Haley Recalla (Scott), Matthew Bones, George Parker (Chelsey), Grace Parker, and Oasis Walters.

Nancy's great-grandchildren include:

Devon, Tianna, Ethan, Angel, Isabelle, Logan, Chloe, Hailey, Violet, Lily, Carter, Leon, Landon, George, Darrel, Woodrow, Cooper, Laura, and Sawyer.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the incredible staff at the IOOF Seniors Home in Barrie, Ontario, where Nancy spent the last year of her life. The love, compassion, and dignity they showed her went far beyond their duties. They cared for and nurtured Nancy with genuine kindness, and it brought great comfort to her family knowing she was so deeply cared for. A special thank you is extended to Jane, who held a very special place in Nancy’s heart. Our gratitude also extends to Pastor Tony, who provided spiritual guidance and support to Nancy during her stay at IOOF.

Nancy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. While our hearts mourn the loss, we find comfort in knowing she is once again reunited with Gordon, resting peacefully by his side. Their love story continues beyond this life, and their legacy lives on through their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the countless lives touched along the way.

Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed. Rest in peace, Nancy.
