Myron Pinnell

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Myron Pinnell on September 9, 2025, at the age of 83, in Ottawa, after a courageous journey with dementia.

He shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife Betty Ann (Hernden), and was a proud father to Brad (Dawn) and Sue (Geoff). But nothing lit up his face more than talking about his grandchildren Jake, Katie (Noah), and Emily, who were his pride and joy. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, warm heart, and unwavering devotion to those he loved most.

Born in Sylvan Valley, Myron was the son of the late Alfred and Pearl Pinnell. He spent most of his life in Sault Ste. Marie, where he built a life centered on family, hard work, and community. He was a dear brother to Wayne (Rosemary), late Lowell (late Edna), Ross (Darlene), Mirt (Cathy), and survived by in-laws Bernice Dean and Kevin (Valerie) Hernden. He was a kind uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A skilled and respected mechanic, Myron worked for 31 years with the Ministry of Transportation. Myron enjoyed the little things, tinkering in the garage, long coffee chats, and especially time with his grandchildren. He was kind, thoughtful, and always ready with a story or a listening ear. He loved connecting with people, whether family, neighbour, or stranger, and his warmth made everyone feel like they belonged. He liked to remind us to “keep that smile”. And no one loved pie, cookies, or ice cream more than Myron.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at Bruyere Village and Saint-Louis Long-Term Care Home for the compassion and dignity shown to Myron. Special thanks to friends Mervyn and John for always staying in touch over the years.

A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider sharing a memory, a story, or simply enjoying a cup of coffee in Myron’s honour and take a moment to appreciate the little things; just the way he would have liked it.
