With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Mikel Vanriemsdyk, who passed away on June 20, 2026, at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.

Mikel was the kind of person who could figure out how any machine worked. As a successful mechanic, he had a passion for British cars. He was known for inventing a fix for anything.

Mikel was guided by strong values and a beautiful, simple philosophy: that everyone should have the freedom to live the exact life they want. He lived his own life with that same integrity and generosity of spirit.

He loved his family and is forever loved and always remembered by his beloved wife, Mary Jane; his children, Kyle (daughter‑in‑law Danielle), Cody, and Kristen; and his cherished grandson, Loic.

He is also survived by his brother Mark, as well as brothers‑ and sisters‑in‑law Dianne (late Denis), Don (Gwen), Glen (Mavis), Gail, David (Lori), Jennifer (John), and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents, Albert and Rika, as well as siblings James and Elizabeth.
