It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael James Newman, affectionately known as Jim, on September 5, 2025.
Born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Jim later made Toronto, Ontario his home, where he met the love of his life, Fronie. Together, they shared a beautiful 46-year marriage and built a loving family with their three children.
Jim was a hardworking man who dedicated over 47 years to the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator specializing in foundation work. He was known not only for his skill and dedication but also for mentoring many young men throughout his career. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Jim left a lasting impact on everyone he worked with.
Above all, Jim was a devoted family man. His infectious laughter, endless kindness, and sense of humor made him the heart of every room. He had a special way of making everyone feel welcomed and loved. He lived his life with integrity, compassion, and joy—a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Fronie; his mother, Francis; and his children, Amanda, Nikki, and Kyle. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Jaicarter, Anthony, Zion, DeLuca, Amari, Alinna, Gianna, and Haven. He is also survived by his siblings Sandra Bennett, Vicky Newman, and Paul Newman.
He is reunited in peace with his father, Michael Newman, and his sister, Mary Newman-Boucher.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn Mausoleum & Cremation Centre, located at 4570 Yonge Street. (Search for 10 Linelle Street to be brought directly to their entrance)
All who knew and loved Jim are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
Jim will be remembered for his laughter, his love, and the unwavering strength he brought to those around him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
